woocoo_park_150_x_113.jpgBegin the drive by travelling west along the Biggenden Highway from Maryborough.

Make the first stop Woo-Koo Park at Woocoo Drive, where you will find life sized statues of settlers, farm animals, native animals and a giant wooden carving of Woo-koo, who according to Aboriginal legend was the area's first inhabitant.

The park has tennis courts, BBQ facilities, toilets and children's playground.

The name 'Woocoo' was originally given to Mt. Woocoo in the area now known as Woocoo Shire.

The local parish took on the name and eventually, when the Woocoo Shire was officially defined and born in 1915, the Parish became the central hub of the area.

'Woocoo is taken from the original word 'Woocoon', the Aboriginal name for the echidna.

The Woocoo Shire has plentiful attractions to entice people to visit and settle in the area.
